(01). Meaning and purpose of Packhouse
Pack house means a structure where a producer (vegetable and fruit producer) can store fresh vegetables and fruits in place which is safe for these raw materials.
Structure: House will be strong enough to sustain any adverse weather situation such as heavy rain, cycle, high temperature etc.
Budget: Each year state government allot budget for horticultural for different schemes. Packhouse is one of them.
There is more than 1 packhouse for each block by the department of horticulture.
The value of each packhouse is equal to more than 250000 – 500000.00 INR.

- The design of the building favours ventilation
- Building is near to field or inside the farm.
- Farmer can store all types of raw product in storage.

(05). How to Get Benefits of Packhouse
- Collect necessary records.
- Contact to horticulture officer.
- Ask them to verify your identity and requirement.
- Ask for application form.
- Fill the application form.
- Submit the application form.
- Make a bank dd.
- Get approved.
Collect necessary records
Here is the list of necessary records:
- Adhar card of farmer.
- B-1 of farmer’s land.
- Naksha of farmer’s land.
- Text book of land record.
- Bank details of farmers.
- Passport size photo of farmer.
- Copy of panchayat recommendation.
Contact to a horticultural officer
Contact to any of the following horticulture officer:
Village level: Rural Hortiulture Extension Officer (RHEO)
Regional level: Hortiulture Development Officer (HDO)
Block level: Senior Horticulture Development Officer (SHDO)
Dist. level: Assistant Director of Hortiulture (ADH)
Ask them to verify your identity and requirement
Now it is time to verify the identity and records. It is the work of them.
Identity: Village of farmer should right.
Land record: All land records should have name of farmers. Land size should not be less than minimum requirement.
Bank details: Bank passbook should have name of farmer.
Passport size photo: It is farmer’s own photo.
Ask for application form
Application forms are available at head office. After verification, if passed, farmer can ask for application form.
Fill it and submit to the officer.
Now a bank dd is necessary to submit rest amount which ranges from 10 – 50 %.

Question 01. How would a farmer get subsidy?
Answer: Farmers have to pay the rest amount of the scheme by bank dd. Farmers have not to pay for subsidy amount which is always more than 50%.
Question 02. What is the minimum land requirement?
Answer: The minimum land requirement for this scheme depends on the land requirement for other schemes such as area expansion scheme which is at least 0.250 ha.
